The 1701 Group steps in to help with emergencies in our community. We have provided assistance for fire victims and regularly support immigrant families who flee their countries to move to our community.

In coordination with Washoe County Senior Services, the Food Pantry program supports over 300 qualified senior citizens, including many deliveries to home-bound individuals.

This program provides kits of personal care and essential items to children, assault victims, and seniors.

This program provides educators in the Washoe County School District with monetary awards to fund projects. Each year we provide $500 awards to teachers and $10,000 awards to groups of teachers to make maximum impact on learning.

This program provides elementary students with a shopping experience for brand-new clothing for themselves. It also supplies clothes closets for the counselors and provides books to students.

This program focuses on enhancing the reading skills of preschool children, specifically those who come from disadvantaged situations. We read to children at the Boys and Girls clubs and provide them with books to take home.

The Re-Share program reallocates certain items received to other more appropriate nonprofit organizations in the Reno-Sparks community. We also have an active program to recycle clothing we can’t use.

The Scholarships program supports deserving students as they work for degrees in the sciences at Truckee Meadows Community College. This program is aimed at students who have some life experience and are going to college to get the skills necessary for their dream occupation.

The program affords senior crafters, 60 years old and over, with a venue in which their handcrafted items are displayed and sold.

The Students in Transition program focuses on homeless high school students in the Washoe County School District providing academic supplies, clothing and personal items to support their school success.

The Veterans Outreach program works with the Veterans Administration providing support with winter coats, bus passes, holiday gifts and much more for veterans.
